Everything You Need to Learn Computer Architecture
Computer architecture is one of the most fundamental areas of computer science – but it can also be one of the most challenging to learn. That’s where Assemlab comes in. By combining hands-on electronics with a guided, project-based approach, Assemlab offers an innovative way to demystify how computers really work – from the ground up.

Everything Included
All the tools and components you need are included in the box, so you can start working on your computer right away!

Comprehensive Manual
The kit includes a comprehensive step-by-step manual that guides you through each module. It explains both the theory and the construction.

Pre-cut Cables
One of the most tedious tasks in any electronics project is cutting and stripping wires. That’s why every Assemlab kit comes with cables pre-cut to the perfect length—so you can skip the fiddly prep work and dive straight into building your 8-bit computer with ease and confidence.

Research Backed
At Assemlab, we hold ourselves to the highest standards – spending countless hours in the lab to ensure reliability and performance. The kit you receive is the culmination of extensive research and real-world evaluation, so you can dive straight into building with complete confidence.

Frequently Asked Questions
Below are answers to our most frequently asked questions. If you don’t see your question listed, please don’t hesitate to reach out via our Contact page—we’re always here to help!
What’s the planned release date of Assemlab’s 8-Bit Computer Kit?
We’re targeting a pre-order launch in the third quarter of 2025. Because we’re still rigorously testing and refining the kit, this timeline is provisional – rest assured, we’ll keep you updated if anything shifts.
What’s included in the Assemlab 8-Bit Computer Learning Kit?
The kit is expected to ship with all the necessary integrated circuits (chips), resistors, capacitors, LEDs, pre-cut cables, power supply, 3D printed breadboard frames and a manual booklet.
Can I power the kit from a USB port, or do I need a separate power supply?
The kit is expected to ship with a power supply designed specifically for the kit.
What tools (if any) will I need besides what comes in the box?
No tools are necessary for the build, but it can be beneficial to use pliers or side cutters to make the wiring neater.
Do I need any prior electronics or programming experience?
Prior experience is not needed as the kit includes a comprehensive manual which explains all the basic concepts of electronics and programming. It doesn’t matter whether you are a skilled engineer or a complete beginner, we are sure you will find working on this project insightful.
How long does it take to build the kit from start to finish?
This varies from person to person, but so far our research suggests that it takes around 30 to 40 hours to build the entire computer from start to finish.
